Algebra II Honors

Course Description

This is a two-semester course in the study of various algebraic techniques. The course reviews fundamental algebra skills and concepts. Included in the course are concepts and skills related to solving equations, inequalities, linear relations; systems of equations and inequalities; matrices; polynomial equations, inequalities and radicals; quadratic functions; exponential and logarithmic relations; sequences, series, probability and basic trigonometric functions.

Required Materials

  • pencils (no work in pen will be accepted)
  • large spiral bound notebook and graph paper (only when needed)
  • Algebra II Textbook (provided)
  • Graphing Calculator, preferably TI-83, TI-84, TI-89 or similar calculator

Classroom Etiquette

  • cell phone usage is not allowed during class (cell phones that interrupt class will be confiscated and turned over to the office).
  • no food or drink is allowed during class with the exception of bottled water.
  • the student is expected to be in their seat when the bell rings; any student not so will be considered tardy and sent to retrieve a late slip.
  • assigned seating will be required at the teacher’s discretion.
  • students should not talk out of turn and should keep hands and feet to themselves.

Grading System

Grades will be determined using a cumulative point system based on the following criteria:

  • Class preparedness (In seat, with text, homework, pencil, paper and any other required materials on time!).
  • Special Projects (class lesson, math project)
  • Homework score or value (varying from 10 to 25 points).
  • Quizzes (from 10 to 50 points).
  • Tests (from 100 and 200).

Letter grades will be based upon the following scale:
93-100 A 73-77 C
90-93 A- 70-73 C-
87-90 B+ 67-70 D+
83-87 B 63-67 D
80-83 B- 60-63 D-
77-80 C+ 60 and below F
