CALCULUS COURSE SYLLABUS

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is a two-semester course in calculus. The following topics will be covered and practiced: functions, limits, rates of change, derivatives and their applications, integrals and their applications, inverse functions, differential equations, parametric equations, and polar coordinates. This course is not an AP course but students are encouraged to take the AP test in May.

Required Materials:

 

  1. pencils
  2. large spiral bound notebook
  3. Calculus textbook (provided)
  4. Graphing Calculator (TI-84)

 

CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE:

  1. Students are to show respect to all people at all times.
  2. The following items are not allowed in class: cell phones, MP3 players, food, beverages (except bottled water), and any other items in violation of school policy. NO GUM IS ALLOWED!
  3. Students are expected to know and obey all school policies.
  4. The student is expected to be in their seat and ready to learn when the bell rings; any student not in their seat will be considered tardy and sent to retrieve a late slip.

 

 

Attendance:

If a student is absent they are responsible for finding out what they missed and being prepared for the next day that they attend. That includes having any due homework and being prepared for a test or quiz if there is one. No makeup tests and quizzes will be given for unexcused absences.

 

Tests:

There will be a test at the completion of each chapter and a final exam at the end of each semester.
