Materials Needed
- 1” binder
- 5-tab divider set
- College-ruled loose-leaf notebook paper (spiral notebooks are not acceptable)
- Pencils (#2)
- Large eraser
- Red pens
- Black pens
- Access to working computer & printer
- English textbook & any current reading books or materials
- The American Heritage Dictionary in paperback
Your student will lose points if all of these supplies are not with them each day in class.
Grading Policy
- Assignments will be listed on monthly assignment schedules given to students as well as in Moodle and on the school website. Remember, assignment schedules are always open to adjustment as necessary depending on class needs.
- It is the student’s responsibility to complete all assignments on time. Unless otherwise noted, Moodle assignments must be done on the day they are due; if they are Thursday’s homework they must be done on Thursday. If they are done late they will have points deducted.
Grading System
A=90%-100% B=80%-89% C=70%-79% D=60%-69% F=0%-59%
Students will be graded on grammar, writing and reading
Grammar grade includes (but is not limited to):
- Homework (worksheets or textbook)
- Quizzes
- Tests
Writing grade includes (but is not limited to):
- Rough drafts (read aloud & evaluated in class) graded for content
- Final drafts (typed & proofread) graded for punctuation, spelling, capitalization and fulfillment of assignment
Reading grade includes (but is not limited to):
- Completion of reading assignments
- Response to reading as assigned (i.e. book report, class presentation, quiz, etc.)
Classroom Etiquette
I have found that three simple rules of conduct cover most situations:
- Respect God (actions and words in keeping with God’s Word)
- Respect Adults (come prepared to class, listen and obey, adhere to all school policies)
- Respect Peers (encourage and uplift each other – no cut downs)
