This conversational class has been designed to bring Spanish 1 & 2’s materials and vocabulary learned, and put them into practice. My goal and vision for this class is to encourage each student to passionately engage in learning the Spanish language by developing skills in: Listening, understanding, reading, writing, and most importantly “Speaking” I will incorporate several learning style during my teaching (visuals, hands-on, listening and conversational activities) This will make it fun and interesting. We will open every session with prayer (in Spanish).
Goal:
It is to equip the student with a strong foundation of the Spanish language. My mission is to prepare them for ministry in the future. Students will learn to pray and learn some worship songs in Spanish. Enhancing vocabulary, practical use application and conversation will be the main goal.
Textbook:
Buen Viaje Textbook AND workbook
Both of these materials need to be brought to class each day.
Suggested Materials:
Spanish-English dictionary
501 Verb Book
3×5 flashcards for vocabulary
Notebook and a pencil or pen are a must!
Grading Scale:
Homework 30%
Homework will be assigned every day. It will consist of a worksheet that reinforces concepts learned in class that day. Practice, practice, practice is the key for success in this class and that includes homework completion.
Participation 10%
Students are expected to participate in class and come ready to learn.
Test 35%
Tests are a great part of progress and learning. There will be 4-5 tests each semester for each chapter. It is important that you develop a great study method as they will factor greatly into your final grade.
Quizzes /Presentations 25%
Application, application, application. There will be vocabulary quizzes weekly and they are meant to show students and instructor where they are or not grasping a subject.
Presentations will occur each chapter and are meant to challenge a student to use what they have learned. Presentations for Spanish 1, will be required only once a month and for Spanish 3, weekly.
Attendance Policy
Attendance in this class is crucial. Students will need to make up work and quizzes or test within the next school day.
